I first heard about these Stanley Cups just a few hours ago from my daughter and I was thinking she's exaggerating, no way they're that expensive, what is this tomfoolery? Holy moly, this cranky gen Xer feels VERY old and out of touch.
I was very much not a Stanley cup fan, maybe it’s because they are so obnoxiously large? Although I was gifted a YETI travel mug and as someone who has a tendency to spill liquid, I can confirm that household water spills have reduced significantly - unless I’ve taken the lid off hehe So I’m not a Stanley cup convert, buuuut I can see value in having an insulated large mug with a handle, as someone who is clumsy.
I think the craze really took off with the Vancouver Millionaires’ 3-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators in 1915.
I think the cups are ugly and daft but I love your line: 'We rinse. We repeat. Hopefully the next fad is also dishwasher safe.'

Really enjoyed the research on this, had no idea I’d wake up to a deep dive on the Stanley cup craze!
